Executive Mayor Kekana says District will fulfil mandate as new council is introduced

Sarah Baartman District Municipality Executive Mayor, Khunjuzwa Eunice Kekana, was elected unopposed to lead the District for a second term following the inauguration of council at a special sitting held at the Africons Country Estate near Addo, in the Sunday’s River Valley Local Municipality, on Wednesday 24 August.
Santam launches fire prevention pilot project with handover of smoke detectors to Kouga Local Municipality

As part of its contribution to International Mandela Day, short term insurer Santam, in partnership with the South African Local Government Association (SALGA) and the Sarah Baartman District Municipality, handed over a number of smoke detectors at the municipality’s head office in Port Elizabeth on 22 July, as part of a pilot project set to commence in the Kouga Local Municipality.
New fire-fighting equipment handed over in Makana as part of Santam “Partnership or Risk and Resilience” initiative

As part of its ongoing support of the Sarah Baartman District Municipality through its Partnership for Risk and Resilience initiative, previously known as Business Adopt a Municipality, short-term insurer Santam handed over fire-fighting equipment worth R220 000 to the Grahamstown Fire Department, in the Makana Local Municipality, on 4 July.

Transnet water donation to alleviate drought in Paterson

In an effort to combat the devastating drought affecting large parts of South Africa, water bottles containing a total of 811-litres were handed over to the Sarah Baartman District Municipality’s Disaster Management Department by the engineering division of Transnet at its Cuyler Manor facility outside Despatch on 1 April.
