PRIMARY HEALTH CARE ALLOCATION
Speaking at the Council meeting on 27 January 2010, Executive Mayor Mvoko reported that Cacadu has already received R29 million of the R38 million approved by the Provincial Department of Health for Cacadu for the 2009/2010 financial year.
Mvoko said "This is a tremendous improvement over previous years' allocation transfers, and I trust that the full amount will be received well before the end of the financial year to enable us to spend it all on improved health services to our communities."
Cacadu District Municipality delivers Primary Health Care services as an agent for the Provincial Department of Health, as Primary Health Care is a function of the Provincial Government. The services are rendered by Cacadu at 26 fixed clinics, 6 satellite clinics and 26 mobile clinics throughout the District and are focussed primarily in the rural area. They include a wide range of services including maternal and child health, curative services for non-communicable diseases, control of communicable diseases such as Tuberculosis, vaccinations, geriatric health, and HIV and Aids awareness programmes.
District Municipality is however not responsible for hospital services in the District.
