Bathurst
Bathurst was founded in 1820 and named after the colonial secretary of the British government, Lord Bathurst. It is situated between Port Elizabeth and East London, and 10 minutes from Port Alfred. The town’s major attraction is the Big Pineapple, which stands 16.7m high and has 3 floors. Bathurst also boasts beautiful beaches, the prominent Royal Alfred Golf Course and a vast variety of water sports.
Kenton-on-sea
This tranquil coastal town lies between the Kariga and Bushman Rivers. It is host to beautiful bays, beaches and rivers where various water sports and angling are popular activities. The Ghio Wetland Reserve and the Joan Muirhead Nature Reserve are two popular reserves which can be found between Kenton-on-Sea and Bushmans River Mouth and between Alexandria and Kenton-On-Sea/Bushmans River respectively.
Port Alfred
Port Alfred lies on the banks of the Kowie River, 30km from Grahamstown. Its beaches are popular amongst local and foreign tourists alike.
