The Cacadu District Municipality - a world in one region - is not only the largest district municipality in the Eastern Cape – but also home to a treasure trove of natural assets and a rich cultural and agricultural heritage. The history of Eastern Cape's 100-year frontier wars and the history of the Xhosa and Settlers are also found within Cacadu.  Egazini, where the bloody Battle of Grahamstown took place in 1819, and Khoisan icon Sarah Bartmann’s grave at Hankey, are two national heritage sites which are part of Cacadu's cultural heritage.

LOCATION
The 58 266 km² Cacadu District stretches from Graaff-Reinet in the north to the Indian Ocean in the south and between the Bloukrans River in the west and Great Fish River in the east. The Cacadu District Municipality is the official authority of the area’s nine local municipal areas; namely, Baviaans, Blue Crane, Camdeboo, Ikhwezi, Kouga, Kou-Kamma, Makana, Ndlambe and Sundays River Valley.
